California's Drop Out Rate is On the Rise
California's State Department of Education released data on the current drop out rate. According to reports nearly 1 in 4 of California's 6.3 million students drop out of school.
Could it be related to California ranking 46th at per pupil spending in the nation?
These stats vary from district to district to district, no doubt affecting low income communities disproportionately. Oakland Unified School District has a 1 in 3 drop out rate. West Contra Costa School District does not stay far behind, over 24% of students drop out.
